HJQ & PAULINE WILSON @ THE DORIS DUKE THEATER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE HONOLULU JAZZ QUARTET ANNOUNCES A FUNDRAISER CONCERT FEATURING
GRAMMY AWARD WINNING VOCALIST PAULINE WILSON ON JULY 26, 2008, 7:30
P.M., AT THE HONOLULU ACADEMY OF ARTS – DORIS DUKE THEATRE

The Honolulu Jazz Quartet is proud to announce its first collaboration
with Hawaii's own, vocalist Pauline Wilson. "We've been wanting to
work together for a long time, and now's our chance!" says HJQ leader
John Kolivas. The proceeds from the concert will go to help defray
travel expenses for the Honolulu Jazz Quartet's concert in Sonoma,
California in August.

Pauline Wilson became Hawaii's first Grammy Award winning vocalist in
1980. Her sultry, powerful and pristine voice distinguishes her as a
true, natural vocalist of many capabilities. Born and raised on the
Big Island, Pauline was spotted performing in Kona and recruited as
vocalist for a new group known as "Ox", which later became known as
"Seawind". She has since performed or recorded with The Yellowjackets,
Jim Messina, Celine Dion, The Crusaders, Kenny Loggins, Michael
MacDonald, James Ingram and Bobby Caldwell, to name a few.

The Honolulu Jazz Quartet had national success with its recordings
"Sounds of the City" and "Tenacity". The latter garnered praise from
the great jazz writer, Nat Hentoff, who wrote liner notes for the
album. The HJQ successfully toured the West Coast last fall, which led
to a featured slot in the Sonoma Valley Jazz Society's concert series
on August 12, 2008. International recording artist / pianist Geoffrey
Keezer will be joining the HJQ in Sonoma for this event.

For the special concert at the Honolulu Academy of Arts on July 26th,
HJQ members (saxophonist) Tim Tsukiyama, (drummer) Adam "von" Baron,
and (bassist/leader) John Kolivas have invited special guests
(trumpeter) Delano Choy, Jr, (guitarist) Jimmy Funai, and
(piano/vocalist) Jeannette Trevias.

Tickets are $30 (general admission) and $25 (HAA members, seniors and
students) and can be purchased by coming to the Honolulu Academy of
Arts after June 26th or by calling John Kolivas at (808) 383-3909.
